O’Neill expresses concern at proposed cuts to Ambulance Service

8 July, 2008 - by Michelle O'Neill

Sinn Féin Mid Ulster MLA and Vice Chair of the Assembly's Health Committee Michelle O Neill has expressed deep concern at stories in the media today regarding cuts to the ambulance service.
She said,
"The Ambulance Service plays a vital and unquestionable role in our Health Service and this news comes as a great shock. It is particularly worrying for those people living in rural areas who are already concerned at the response times of ambulances within their communities.
At this stage it is unclear whether or not the proposed Rapid Response Vehicles will be able to meet the demands placed on the Ambulance Service and it is something that needs looked at very carefully right across the board, from the Department, to the Ambulance Service to the trade unions."
