Sinn Féin's Health Spokesperson Michelle O'Neill warns of the health risks associated with black market drugs.

It has been claimed that people are risking their lives by buying prescription tranquilisers on the black market. Commenting on this issue, Sinn Féin MLA and Vice Cahir of the Assembly Health Committee, Michelle O'Neil has said that the growth in dependance on legal, prescription drugs is deeply worrying.

Michelle said,

"The amount of prescription drugs that are being bought freely throughout the north of Ireland is very worrying, particularly as they are being bought without the safeguards of traditional procedures for prescribing drugs. Anyone who feels they desire these medicines should not buy them from illegal sources, it's much too dangerous."

She continued,

"People need to ask themselves if the potential financial savings is worth the risk to their health and life. They may be not only be taking the chance that the medication they receive may not work, but the risk is that it could be life-threatening."CRÍOCH
