Sinn Féin attend 'Equal Lives' Rally at Stormont

21 October, 2008 - by Sue Ramsey

Sinn Féin West Belfast MLA and Health committee member Sue Ramsey along with other Sinn Féin MLA's, Michelle O Niell, Claire McGill and Mickey Brady, attended the 'Equal Lives Rally' today at Stormont. The Rally took place on the front steps of Stormont today at 12.30pm

Speaking ahead of the rally Ms Ramsey said:

"Sinn Fein fully supports the calls at the 'Equal Lives Rally' for the full implementation of the Bamford reviews recommendations.

"Sinn Fein share the concern of many in this field that services for those with learning disabilities have never been properly prioritised when it comes to funding decisions. This has left those who are affected, along with their families and friends and those who care for people with learning disabilities, at a severe disadvantage.

"We are calling on the Minister for Health, Michael McGimpsey, to deliver on the recommendations made in the Bamford Review. This is an issue of equal access to care and attainment of a full quality of life and cannot be put on the back burner for much longer."
