Save the Children event highlights impact of fuel poverty – Sinn Féin
Sinn Féin West Tyrone MLA and the party's spokesperson on poverty Clare McGill has welcomed the report from Save the Children which was launched in the Long Gallery Stormont today, highlighting the very real impact that fuel poverty is having on children and young people.
Ms McGill said,
"The launch of the report today indicates the very real problems for our children and young people that arise out of increasing fuel poverty within society in the North of Ireland.
"Save the Children must be commended for their continued work in both highlighting this issue and working to assist those children who suffering because of the choice their parents often have of 'heat or eat'.
"This is an issue that we must all wake up to and the onus is on the Assembly and indeed the Executive do all that they can to help children who are vulnerable within our society."
