Friends of Sinn Féin Australia
Australian Aid for Ireland has been active in politics in Australia for over 15 years with its roots go back to the H Block Committees (Formed to support the 1980 and 1981 Hunger Strikers) and further. It has been active in raising political awareness about the situation in Ireland, and in fundraising for Sinn Féin, political prisoners and their families throughout that time. It has made strong links with numerous other groups struggling for justice, such as the East Timorese and the indigenous Australian population.
Primarily, our function is to organise, educate and agitate throughout the community to win support for the activities and campaigns of those struggling for freedom, justice and peace in Ireland.
Sinn Féin attaches particular importance to inward investment as the generator of sustainable growth and strongly encourages mutually reinforcing private and public sector activity in the economy. We also insist on the provision of education and training for the entire workforce; the need for extensive workplace participation and democracy; the creation of genuine equality of opportunity for all; and the development of environmentally friendly economic activity.

To support the development of an effective peace process in Ireland
To promote the achievement of a just and lasting peace in Ireland through an inclusive settlement based on internationally recognised democratic principles
To support the right of the Irish people to national selfdetermination.
The exercise of that right being a matter for the agreement of the Irish people alone
To promote and support the need for a process of national recognition in Ireland
To promote the observance of effective human rights safeguards in Ireland based on internationally recognised standards
To support the application of parity of esteem, equality of treatment and equality of opportunity in Ireland
To encourage Australian assistance for economic development and regeneration in Ireland as an aid to the peace process
To educate and inform the Australian media and public, and to encourage a mobilisation of support for the peace process
