Gerry Adams comments on the murder of Kevin McDaid
Speaking this evening from Coalisland in County Tyrone Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams MP, MLA said,
“The murder of Kevin McDaid has shown that sectarianism is a cancer which has to be rooted out of society in the north.
The sympathy of all thinking people is with the McDaid family and with the families of those who were injured in this attack.
While statements of condolences are necessary, they are not enough. All leaders but particularly public representatives have to set themselves against sectarianism in all its forms. This includes uniting and working together. It means setting an example. It is an indictment of the northern state that peoples’ religious beliefs can cause their lives to be ended or that citizens cannot live free of sectarian hatred.” CRÍOCH
