North Belfast - GERRY KELLY MLA

GERRY KELLY has been a Sinn Féin MLA in North Belfast since 1998 when he was elected following the signing of the Good Friday Agreement. In every election since then, he has increased the Sinn Féin vote.

Along with Martin McGuinness and Gerry Adams, Gerry Kelly is one of Sinn Féin’s chief negotiators and was involved in producing the Good Friday Agreement, the Saint Andrew’s Agreement and the recent negotiations at Hillsborough on the transfer of policing and justice powers.

He is an executive minister alongside Martin McGuinness with special responsibilities for older people and children’s rights. He has been involved in mediation on conflict resolution in places such as the Philippines and the Basque Country, sharing our valuable experiences in peace building.

Between 1990 and 1993 he took part in secret negotiations with representatives of the British government, attempting to establish a viable peace process. At constituency level, Gerry Kelly is involved every day in a large number of issues and campaigns ranging from housing, leisure facilities, investment and environmental issues to community safety.

A victory for Gerry Kelly in this election would increase Sinn Fein’s ability to deliver for the nationalist community of North Belfast. In North Belfast, Sinn Féin has cut the DUP’s lead from 5,200 in 2005 to only 2,000 in 2007.

North Belfast can return a Republican MP, provided the nationalist people use their vote!

It is absolutely clear that Gerry Kelly is the only nationalist candidate who can take the North Belfast seat from Nigel Dodds of the DUP.

So, if you are registered to vote in North Belfast, please use your vote on election day and vote Gerry Kelly X. We can do it! Is féidir linn é a dhéanamh!
