Wicklow / East Carlow - John BRADY
John is married to Gayle and together they have 4 children. He is a self-employed carpenter. John is a lifelong republican and was Director of Elections for Mairead Keane in the 2002 general elections in Wicklow. In the 2004 Local elections John was selected to contest for Bray Town Council and was elected with over 8.4% of the vote. In 2007 John was the Wicklow Sinn Fein candidate in the General elections and received over 3200 votes. In 2009 was re-elected to Bray Town Council coming within 2 votes of topping the poll and was also elected to Wicklow County Council with nearly 1900 votes. John along with his party college John Snell are the first republicans to sit there since Seamus Costello.
John is widely recognised as a hard working public representative and has pursued many issues such as the housing crisis in Wicklow, the drugs issue, the fire service and environmental issues. John has been instrumental in progressing the development of a Enterprise Centre in Bray an he has worked extensively with council officials and others to bring jobs and employment into Wicklow.
John has spearhead the campaign to establish a National Film Museum in the County to promote the tourist industry.
John has worked closely with many community and sporting organisations across Wicklow and was instrumental in obtaining a premise for Bray Boxing club, the home of the world champion Katie Taylor, and also the Queen of peace youth Club. John is the president of Fassaroe Y.C, in Bray.
