Sligo / North Leitrim - Michael COLREAVY

Colreavy - leading the change in Sligo / North Leitrim

Councillor Michael Colreavy lives with his wife Alice at Main Street, Manorhamilton, Co Leitrim. They have eight adult children and five grandchildren. He joined Sinn Féin in 1979 and was Branch Secretary of IMPACT Trade Union and President of Sligo Council of Trade Unions.

Michael was reared, educated and worked in Sligo, moving to Manorhamilton in 1981. He was first elected to Leitrim County Council in 1999, was Vice-Chairman in his first year and Chairman for 2000 / 2001. He retired recently from his job as an IT Projects Manager with HSE in order to concentrate all his energies on community representation. He is regarded – even by his political opponents – as a hardworking representative with great commitment, integrity and ability.

Michael believes that a new way of thinking and representation is needed if this country and this area are to recover from the current economic mess. “We need to reclaim our economy; we need to reclaim our democracy, we need to reclaim our pride and dignity. We need to elect people with the vision, policies, experience and ability to do the job. We need good government and even better opposition. Others have tried and failed miserably. Like all Sinn Féin TDs I will accept only the average wage and vouched expenses. The balance will be used to develop a constituency office in Sligo. It is time for real change. With the support of the Sligo / North Leitrim electorate that change is starting now”
