Tipperary North - Seamus MORRIS

Seamus Morris was first elected as a Nenagh Town Councillor in 2004 when he topped the poll. He contested the 2007 GE but did not succeed, but was the first Sinn Fein County Councillor in over 50 years to be elected to North Tipperary County Council in 2009. Seamus is currently serving his second term as Mayor of Nenagh.

Seamus is 47 and married with 4 children. He works for An Post. Seamus is an active member of many community organisations around Nenagh. He is a keen sporting enthusiast and actively involved in many local sporting clubs.

Seamus is a hard working, dedicated, honest, representative for the people of  Nenagh & North Tipperary. He is regarded as a tenacious worker who sticks with the issues until the end. He has a long record of representing people from both within and outside of North Tipperary.

Since first elected he has worked tirelessly for his constituency, community groups and Nenagh Hospital. He has brought vigor, commitment and a fresh energy to his role.Seamus recognizes that beyond the politics of the council chamber there are other big issues of job creation, policing and the justice system, rural* and urban planning, the environment, education and health and the problem of drugs.

*Seamus featured on Primetime Investigates program “The Pressure Zone” (27/11/2007) on the over zoning of land in North Tipperary.
