Peadar Tóibín TD

Peadar Tóibín is the Sinn Féin TD for Meath West.  He is the son of well known garage proprietor Jack Tobin and former teacher Ban Tóibín and is recently married to Deirdre. Peadar has a degree in Economics and Politics from UCD and a Postgraduate in Enterprise from the Michael Smurfit School of Business, UCD.

Peadar Tóibín, a self employed Management Consultant is founder of Navan firm Réalt* Consulting. Peadar delivers training and mentoring in New Business Start Up, How to Export and Developing Enterprise to entrepreneurs in Ireland and abroad on behalf of organisations such as InterTradeIreland, Scottish Enterprise, Border Innovation Gateway and the County Enterprise Boards.

He is the founder and Chairperson of the Save Navan Hospital Campaign which is fighting for a fully functional hospital to serve the people of Meath. The Campaign successfully brought 12,000 people on to the streets of Navan in support of Navan Hospital. Peadar is currently leading discussions with the HSE and the Minister for Health. Peadar is also the chair of the Meath Schools Campaign which is seeking to develop extra capacity in the secondary school system in the county and to replace prefabs and decrepit buildings in the primary school system with proper modern school buildings.

A member of the Meath County Development Board Peadar has authored the detailed economic submission ‘Developing Jobs in Meath’. He has developed a Retail Strategy for Navan in the last year to combat the effects of the recession. Peadar also led the campaign against Head Shops in Navan which successfully saw the closure of two damaging Head Shops in the town.

Peadar is a director of Meath Tourism and is promoting the development of an internationally recognised tourist offering ‘The Valley of Kings, the Complete Boyne Walk’.  He is also the PRO for Navan Facelift a voluntary organization which has cleaned up over 50 tonnes of rubbish from the environs of Navan over the last year. Peadar also led the recent Windows and Doors Campaign in the county which lobbied for proper insulation, windows and doors to be installed in houses most in need.

Peadar is Leas Cathaoirleach of the Conradh na Gaeilge An Uaimh and has been behind the new progressive language policy which is leading the way in the state with the use of Irish names for new housing estates. He is a fan of Gaelic Football, Hurling and Rugby having played for Navan O’Mahony’s and Navan Rugby Club in his youth.
