South Down - WILLIE CLARKE

First elected MLA in 2003, Willie is a popular representative. He sits on a number of important Stormont legislative bodies including the DARD, Environment and the Standards and Privileges committees and has helped shape legislation on a range of issues.

Locally, Willie has lobbied hard to secure improvements to the local roads, water and sewerage network. He has campaigned for the regeneration of Newcastle Harbour, the redevelopment of Newcastle’s promenade and streetscape and the preservation of local heritage sites.

Willie also helped establish the very successful Hallowtide’s Festival and he an advocate of sustainable, heritage based tourism.
