West Tyrone - DECLAN McALEER

Declan was elected to Omagh District council in 2005.  He is the  Chairman of Omagh District Council and held the position as chair of the Council’s Planning committee.    

Declan is a Lecturer in Psychology and has taught in Omagh College and at Dean Maguirc College.  He sits on the board of Governors of three local schools and has recently been re appointed as member of the Western Education and Library Board.

Declan has lobbied for the transfer of the vacated military grounds at Lisanelly for use as an educational campus and works closely with the voluntary sector on a wide range of issues that affect the local community. He also sits on the Western Education and Library Board.
