Welcome for A6 public enquiry – Ó hOisín

25 September, 2012 - by Cathal Ó hOisín

Sinn Féin MLA for East Derry Cathal Ó hOisín has welcomed the the launch of the Public Enquiry into the A6 Derry to Dungiven dualing project and the Dungiven bypass.

Speaking today Mr Ó hOisín said:

“The launch of the public enquiry into the A6 is welcome news and I would encourage as many people as possible to take part.

“This is a significant step in the  process of upgrading one of the most used roads in the north of Ireland.

“The by-pass in Dungiven alone would divert up to 20,000 vehicles from the of the town everyday greatly enhancing life in the town as the town is now a major bottleneck. Above this the process will further increase access to and from the north west for the betterment of citizens, particularly in Derry and Donegal.

“I would encourage the Minister to examine the tendering process and have plans in place that if the enquiry has a positive outcome we are ready to expedite the upgrade.”
