Cullinane voices support for UCD Students Bar workers
September 27, 2012
Sinn Féin Workers’ Rights Spokesperson Senator David Cullinane has today called on UCD Students Bar to honour an agreement reached with workers on the 15th of August with respect to redundancy and unpaid wages.
He said it was unacceptable that workers were left without wages since the end of August. The Mandate Trade Union has served strike notice on the bar.
Speaking today Senator Cullinane said:
“The resolution of this issue lies with the committee of the UCD Students Bar and its representatives. After two Labour Relation Committee meetings an agreement was reached with the committee and its workers on the 15th August. This agreement has not been upheld.
“This is extremely disappointing and unacceptable. The workers involved have been without wages since the end of August. They have not received their redundancy payments or wages owed to them.
“I am calling on the bar committee representatives to deliver on agreements made. I am also calling on the President of UCD, Dr Hugh Brady, to intervene in this important matter.”
