Dissidents once again endanger Poleglass community - McCann

26 October, 2012 - by Jennifer McCann

Sinn Féin MLA for West Belfast Jennifer McCann has stated that those behind the pipe bomb attack in Poleglass last night have stooped to new levels using the cover of domestic violence to lure the PSNI out to an attack.

Speaking today Ms McCann said:

“Thankfully nobody was injured in last nights pipe bomb attack in Glenwood.

“Those behind the attack in Poleglass have once again put this community in danger and had 20 families moved from their homes late into the night.

“The PSNI were lured to the scene by a call indicating that there was a case of domestic violence in the Glenwood area. This was not that case.

“The PSNI were right to come to this call for that purpose but by using this reasons as cover dissidents have stooped to an even lower level. Domestic violence is a very serious issue and those who made this call have utilised this emotive issue for their own selfish means.

“Whoever is behind these attacks need to get off this communities backs. This community does not want them, this community does not want put in danger by them and this community most certainly does not want those who actually suffer from domestic violence being affected in future by the PSNI having to assess a situation before responding.”
