McLaughlin slams arson attack on Orange Hall

29 November, 2012 - by Mitchel McLaughlin

Sinn Féin MLA for South Antrim has slammed those behind an arson attack on Fourscore Orange Hall.

Speaking today Mr McLaughlin said:

“The attempted arson attack on the Fourscore Orange Hall outside Glenavy serves no purpose whatsoever other than to try and heighten tension in the area and drive a wedge between different sections of the community in this area.

“They will not succeed. There are good community relations in Glenavy and they will prevail.

“This attack comes on the back of several attacks on the Glenavy Orange Hall, and indeed a paint attack on the war memorial in the town. Those behind each and every one of these attacks are sectarian bigots.

“They need to stop these attacks and I would urge anyone who saw anything suspicious to report it to the PSNI.”
