McLaughlin welcomes Derry meeting of DETI Committee
February 28, 2013
Sinn Féin MLA Maeve McLaughlin (Foyle) has welcomed the decision by the Assembly Enterprise Committee to hold an information Breakfast meeting for Derry businesses.
Maeve McLaughlin said:
“I have been seeking the support of Committee members for several months now for holding just such an event in Derry. I welcome the decision of the Committee to accept the invitation from Derry City Mayor, Cllr. Kevin Campbell to host a working Breakfast meeting in the City.
“This meeting will give the business sector and Derry City Officials the opportunity to brief the Members on the potential contained in the ‘One Plan’.
“I hope that the MLA’s coming to Derry for this meeting on March 14th will listen to the case for Derry to be considered by both, the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI) and Invest NI, as a special business case in line with the ‘One Plan’ strategy – endorsed by the Executive - and Derry as City of Culture 2013.
“I look forward to this event as an opportunity to showcase Derry as a place open for business with a combination of favourable circumstances and events taking place this year that are capable of setting the foundations for business into the future. I would encourage maximum input by the business community into this listening exercise by a very influential Assembly Committee.”
