Two brand new Irish citizens, originally from the US, have declared their intentions to vote Sinn Féin in the next election. They have even brought their Sinn Féin TD, Michael Colreavy, with them to their naturalisation ceremony.
Barbara Jacobi and her husband Randolph Cecil, having been living in South Sligo for the past six years, but today, along with over 4,000 others will become Irish citizens at a ceremony in Dublin.
Barbara said: “We are very excited about being able to vote in upcoming referenda, general and presidential elections.
“Up to this we could only vote in the locals. It is one of the best parts of becoming Irish citizens to be able to take part in political life here.
