Sinn Féin MLA and Junior Minister Jennifer McCann has commended the work of Springboard at an event celebrating their 21st birthday today.
The West Belfast MLA said:
“Through development at home, as well as internationally, Springboard programmes consistently encouraged an appreciation of diversity and promotes intercultural understanding and a shared future.
“Support provided by Springboard will result in personal development leading to jobs or further education or training. Most importantly this gives young people the opportunity to take responsibility for their future.
“The ‘Together: Building a United Community’ strategy published this year reflects the Executive’s commitment to improving community relations and continuing the journey towards a more united and shared society.
“It outlines a vision of opportunity, the desirability of good relations and reconciliation – one of which is strengthened by its diversity, where cultural expression is celebrated and embraced and where everyone can live, learn, work and socialise together, free from prejudice, hate and intolerance.
“No doubt this will be challenging, but we are determined to see it through as it will benefit society now and lead to a better future for all our young people.”
