Sinn Féín TD Aengus Ó Snodaigh has said the overwhelming message coming from a major canvass across the state yesterday is that people are sick of the cronyism associated with Seanad and will vote to abolish it next week.
Deputy Ó Snodaigh was speaking after receiving the reports from a major canvas operation mounted by his party yesterday.
"Yesterday we had hundreds of activists and elected representatives campaigning right across the state for a yes vote in the Seanad referendum.
"After talking to local campaign managers this morning it is clear that the overwhelming message coming from the doors is that the people are sick of the cronyism associated with the Seanad and will vote to abolish it next week.
"Sinn Féin will continue our campaigning right up until Thursday and we will mount a major operation to get out the yes vote on Friday."
