Sinn Féin MLA and Junior Minister Jennifer McCann said dialogue, building trust and tackling inequalities are key ingredients to peace building and reconciliation.
Speaking at the launch of the Irish Churches Peace Project the West Belfast MLA said:
“Building Peace and Reconciliation is not an easy task and it presents challenges for us all.
“However, there is an onus on leaders from all sectors in society to work together and stand together to challenge those who are opposed to peace and progress.
“There are many problems that we need to solve in the months and years ahead to break down inequalities and divisions within our society. The solutions have to be based on the principals of equality for all, power sharing and respect for cultural identity.
“Our children and our young people need to be able to draw hope from us that we can acknowledge and respect our differences and create a society free from discrimination, prejudice, hate and intolerance.”
