Sinn Féin MLA Rosie McCorley has repeated her call for Irish language groups to make sure they apply to become part of the new all Ireland structure for core-funded bodies.
The West Belfast MLA was speaking after Foras na Gaeilge appeared in front of the Department of Culture, Arts & Leisure Committee at the Assembly.
Rosie McCorley said:
“Prior to Foras na Gaeilge coming before the committee I had called on groups in the North to engage in the process and make sure they argue their case for inclusion in the new all Ireland structure.
“I raised their concerns with Foras na Gaeilge today and they assured me that the process is entirely transparent and there is no pre-conceived outcome to it.
“They also agreed that there is a wealth of experience, talent and expertise involved in the Irish language sector in the North and that it is in Foras na Gaeilge’s interest to maintain as much of that as possible.
“No group should exclude themselves from the process and they should all engage and stake their claim to be part of the new structure.”
