Logue urges vigilance following home heating oil thefts in Crumlin

13 December, 2013 - by Antrim -- Anne-Marie Logue

Sinn Féin Councillor for Crumlin Anne Marie Logue is urging people to ensure that they secure their home heating oil tanks. This follows a number of oil thefts in the area.

Speaking today Cllr Logue said:

“There have been a number of home heating oil thefts in the local area over the past weeks. Given the current price of oil this is proving to be attractive for criminal elements.

"I would urge people, especially those whose tanks are exposed to be vigilant, enure that they lock their garden gates and secure the lids to their tanks with a pad lock or other such device.

“I have contacted the local PSNI and PCSP to raise this issue and I am assured that patrols in the Crumlin area will be increased.

“However it is mainly through vigilance, whether it be in your own home or keeping an eye towards your neighbours, that we can best deter this type of activity.”
