in Drogheda today, Sinn Féin Leader and Louth TD Gerry Adams said the Taoiseach
and the Government had no credibility when it came to the CRC scandal.
Mr Adams said:
"The Taoiseach said he thought that the CRC scandal is part of an Ireland that is gone. This is clearly not the case.
"What has been uncovered at the CRC and indeed at Irish Water, Poolbeg and elsewhere, is part of toxic political culture, marked by 'jobs for the boys', contracts for a small group of consultants and insiders who are closely linked to the establishment.
"It must be remembered that much of this money going to bonuses, pay and consultancy fees is money taken from services for the most vulnerable of our citizens such as children with disabilities. This is obscene.
"The Taoiseach and the Government have no credibility on this issue having repeatedly breached pay guidelines for their own advisors and having sought to close down political scrutiny of public administration.
“Cronyism in politics, business and the public sector must be rooted out once and for all. This will only happen when those in Government lead by example."
