Sinn Féin MLA and Junior Minister Jennifer McCann said young people are key to building a better future.
Speaking at an event that hosted hundreds of young people and youth providers from all over the North the West Belfast MLA said:
“Our young people are the future and have a significant role to play in building a better society.
“Today is about valuing and recognising the huge potential they have and to listen to their views on how to shape the United Youth Programme and implement it's delivery.
“All young people have skills and talents and the potential to grow and it is our responsibility to ensure they have the best possible opportunities to fulfil their dreams and ambitions.
“By working together with young people we want to bring forward an agreed design for the United Youth Programme, which will benefit many of the youth in our society.
“Our children and young people are key in showing the rest of us how to build relationships and work together. We need to hear their voices and work in partnership to build a better society for everyone.”
