Kenny’s Davos comments on emigration are insulting – Adams

23 January, 2014 - by Gerry Adams TD

Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams has said Enda Kenny’s comments from Davos today relating to emigration are irresponsible and show a lack of empathy with those who have had to leave Ireland as a result of his policies.
Deputy Adams said;
“His comments today in relation to emigration and the reasons why people leave our country are completely irresponsible and show a lack of empathy with those who have been forced to leave Ireland as a result of the policies he has implemented.
“The fact is that this government, like successive governments has embraced forced emigration as a policy option.
“Coming from a county like Mayo he must know the reality of emigration and the devastation it has caused across the country.
“Trying to somehow put a positive spin on this issue is insulting to those who have left and he should just stop doing it.”
