Sinn Féin Councillor Niall Ó Donnghaile has welcomed a £276,000 investment by DRD to road improvements along the Mountpottinger Road.
Cllr Ó Donnghaile said;
“This news comes after years of campaigning and lobbying of DRD during the tenure of the current Minister Danny Kennedy and his predecessor Connor Murphy MP.
The work includes new surfacing and the addition of a puffin crossing; this in particular will be welcomed as it comes on the back of campaigning for a long time around the issue of pedestrian safety.
While there will be disruption as a result of road closures for the work to take place, this will be a small price to pay in order to improve the safety of the Mountpottinger Road for the future.
I look forward to continuing to work with DRD and Road Service and hope for similar measures to be put in place elsewhere locally in the coming period.”
