McCartney congratulates Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin, on expansion plans

Foyle MLA, Raymond McCartney has congratulated Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin on itspurchase of the former Great James Street Presbyterian Church and Manse in Derry

Raymond McCartney said:

“This is another ambitious initiative by Gearóid Ó hÉara and his team in an Cultúrlann. I have no doubt that this enterprising team will deliver on these plans with the same winning determination as they approached the original award winning project of Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin.

“I particularly welcome the financial assistance from Ciste Infhestíochta Ghaeilge, the Irish Language funding body which Sinn Féin negotiated as part of the Hillsborough Agreement.

“This will be a tremendous addition not just to the existing Cultúrlann facilities but to the cultural and tourism offering of the North West. It will also bring us closer to the establishment of a Gaeltacht Quarter in the ancient City of Doire Colmcille. I wish Gearóid and all involved in the new project all the best in their endeavor.”
