Gilmore comments every bit as cynical as the pre-election auction politics of Fianna Fáil

3 February, 2014 - by Lynn Boylan MEP

Sinn Féin Dublin EU candidate Lynn Boylan has described Tanaiste and Labour Leader Eamon Gilmore’s comments on the property tax as every bit as cynical as the pre-election auction politics of Fianna Fáil during the boom.

Ms Boylan said:

“Eamon Gilmore’s comments on the property tax were every bit as cynical as the pre-election auction politics of Fianna Fáil during the boom. Does he seriously think that one year after introducing the property tax and while people are watching water meters being put in their homes that they take his comments seriously?

“Pat Rabbitte let the cat out of the bag when he admitted that false promises were what Labour did during an election campaign.

“The property tax is a totally unjust tax which should be removed. This would save 1.8 million homeowners an average of €278 per year. This is the type of assistance that struggling families need and the type of initiative which will keep jobs in local communities.”
