Sinn Féin MLA and Education spokesperson Chris Hazzard has called on the DUP to state publicly whether or not they pressed the Protestant Coalition to end its campaign of targeting and intimidating of a Catholic school teacher.
This follows a meeting between the DUP and the Protestant Coalition today in Stromont.
Speaking today Mr Hazzard said:
“The campaign of sectarian intimidation against a catholic school teacher by the Protestant Coalition cannot be justified in any sense.
“Sinn Féin have called for political unionism to show leadership and distance themselves from this intimidation by condemning outright the Protestant Coalition’s campaign.
“This is the same party that met both the UUP and DUP over the Haass negotiations.
“Today in Stormont several prominent members of the Protestant Coalition including Bill Hill, Sam McCrory and Rab McKee met with the DUP.
“I call on the DUP to state publicly whether during this meeting they pressed upon the Protestant Coalition to end their campaign of targeting school teachers?”
