Sinn Féin MLA and Junior Minister Jennifer McCann has praised the work of young people at interfaces.
Speaking at an event to celebrate the Belfast to Blanco project the West Belfast MLA said:
“Once again our young people have led the way in peace building and reconciliation.
“This week a number of teenagers from the Shankill and Ardoyne areas of North Belfast will go to Blanco in South Africa to help disadvantaged communities there.
“They have broken through the barriers of sectarianism and hate to come together for the common good of those less fortunate than themselves.
“These young people like so many more in our society are prepared to challenge the hatred and intolerance that keeps so many in our community apart.
“They are an example of what can be done in an area that would be considered an interface area of North Belfast.
“By breaking down barriers and building new relationships they are an example of how a small group can make such a big difference.”
