Focus needed on what helps our children – Jennifer McCann

5 February, 2014 - by Jennifer McCann

Prevention and early intervention programmes are key to making a difference in improving outcomes for our children.

Sinn Féin MLA and Junior Minister Jennifer McCann said we need to continue to focus our efforts and investment in measures that have the greatest impact in children’s lives.

Speaking at the ‘No Compromise getting it right for All our Children’ event this morning the West Belfast MLA said:

“We must identify what works and the measures that are having the greatest impact so that we can continue to focus our efforts and investment where it’s needed.

“Through the Delivering Social Change Framework concentrating on Prevention and Early Intervention differences have already been made on the ground.

“All our children deserve the best possible start in life and programmes that focus on the needs of the children and their families ensure that all children have equal access to opportunities as they grow up.

“By supporting parents and carers and building positive relationships for children, families, and communities we can improve children’s life chances and reduce the impact of inequalities.”
