Moore Street National Monument must be preserved – McLellan

5 February, 2014 - by Sandra McLellan TD

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Arts, Heritage, Sport & Tourism, Sandra McLellan TD, has highlighted the need to preserve Moore Street.

Speaking in the Dáil today McLellan said:

“The need to preserve Moore Street as a national monument is now at a critical stage as it continues to fall into serious disrepair. The state is the guardian of this National Monument.

“A meeting with the Minster for Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht is of the utmost importance.

“The Taoiseach should encourage Minster Deenihan to meet with us to discuss the outstanding matters relating to the preservation of Moore Street.

“I would welcome publication of the forthcoming Monuments Bill as it could improve the protection and regulation of our archaeological heritage.”
