Sinn Féin’s Mary Lou McDonald TD has expressed her disappointment and concern following today’s decision by the Public Accounts Committee to refuse a request by Garda Maurice McCabe that he be provided with a transcript of his evidence to the committee.
The Dublin Central TD said:
“Today’s decision by the Public Accounts Committee to refuse a request by Garda Maurice McCabe for a transcript of his evidence given last week to the committee during its investigation into the termination of penalty points is deeply disappointing.
“When this matter was previously discussed by the Committee it had been agreed that such a request could and would be facilitated. Today’s decision runs contrary to what was agreed and this development is troubling.
“I have written to the Clerk of the Committee asking that Garda McCabe’s request for a transcript of his evidence to the Public Accounts Committee be placed back on the agenda for next week’s meeting.”
