Ferris welcomes EU vote against GM

12 February, 2014 - by Martin Ferris TD

Sinn Féin spokesman on Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Martin Ferris TD, has welcomed the vote against the growing of genetically modified crops in the European Union by Minister for European Affairs, Paschal Donohue.
Deputy Ferris said:
“I am glad that the minister recognised this as an issue which is causing great public concern and opposition in Europe in the absence of a legal framework in relation to genetically modified crops.
“Now, I appeal to Minister Donohue to follow through on this decision and to introduce legislation here at home to specifically prohibit the growing of genetically modified crops in this state.”
