Sinn Féin Dublin EU candidate to speak at Dublin City Centre vigil in support of Margaretta D’arcy’s release
Sinn Féin’s Dublin EU candidate Lynn Boylan will be a guest speaker at the Peace and Neutrality Alliance (PANA) vigil to be held in Dublin city centre this afternoon to mark anti-war activist Margaretta D’arcy’s first month in prison.
The Dublin EU candidate said:
"Earlier this week Sinn Fein Leader Gerry Adams TD visited Margaretta D’arcy in prison and whilst she was in good spirits her situation remains stark.
“It is absolutely unacceptable that Margaretta has been imprisoned for the stand she has taken in defence of neutrality and in opposition to any facilitation of secret rendition programmes, in breach of international law.
“Locking Margaretta up for taking a stand against the government’s failure to uphold Ireland’s international obligations is deeply unjust.
"Margaretta is not a criminal; she is a brave lady who has stood up for what she believes in. Sinn Féin will continue to demand that Margaretta D’arcy be immediately released.”
