Sinn Féin West Tyrone MLA Barry McElduff will host a delegation at Stormont tomorrow of Hauliers and Public representatives from Donegal lobbying support in opposition to the imminent introduction of a HGV transport Levy by Westminster on operators from the 26 Counties.
Mr McElduff said:
"A Delegation of Hauliers and Public representatives will be at Stormont tomorrow to highlight the negative impact that this proposed HGV Levy will have on cross border Trade.
"I believe that this is just the latest regressive measure being imposed by a Westminster government on our economy. As with Airport Tax and Corporation Tax this is just another revenue raising measure for the British Exchequer that gives no return or benefit to the economy of the North of Ireland - in fact they inhibit growth and investment.
"I will facilitate meetings between the delegation, their Public Representatives and the various Parties in the Assembly tomorrow Tuesday 25th February so that MLA's can listen to the concerns of the Hauliers and offer support to have the North exempted from this regressive levy."
