Sinn Féin President and Louth TD Gerry Adams has expressed his ‘shock and deep sadness at the death of Christine Buckley’.
Mr. Adams said:
“Christine Buckley was a hugely courageous woman who was among the first to speak out about the systematic abuse of children in Church and state run institutions.
“Her steadfast resolve and determination to challenge those responsible for the abuse of tens of thousands of citizens was remarkable. Her actions helped improve the legal protections for children and victims of abuse.
“I want to extend on my own behalf and that of Sinn Féin our deepest condolences to her husband Donal and three children, Darragh, Conor and Cliona.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a h-anam.”
