Sinn Féin MLA Pat Sheehan said the PSNI Chief Constable and the Coroner should stop wasting public money in an effort to conceal the truth.
The West Belfast MLA slammed the Coroner and the Chief Constable for appealing a High Court decision to hold a new inquest into the RUC killing of unarmed IRA Volunteer Pearse Jordan in 1992.
“This is clearly a case of both the Coroner and the Chief Constable attempting to thwart the truth surrounding the killing of Pearse Jordan,” said Pat Sheehan.
“The High Court had found that the PSNI were responsible for up to an eleven-year delay in holding the inquest.
“Rather than trying to conceal the truth the Coroner and the PSNI Chief Constable should be doing all in their power to bring to light the facts around Pearse Jordan’s death as soon as possible.”
