Sinn Féin TD for Dublin South-Central Aengus Ó Snodaigh has condemned last night’s double shooting in Ballyfermot.
Ó Snodaigh said:
"Last night's shooting is to be condemned and should lead to more resources being available to An Garda Síochána in Ballyfermot to help tackle increasing levels of crime.
"In recent months we have witnessed a serious increase in serious crime and anti-social behaviour in this community. Last night's double shooting is a additional an unwelcome development.
"I will continue to work with others to find solutions to the causes and consequences of serious crime in Ballyfermot and other areas. The vast majority of people here are hard working families who only want the best for Ballyfermot and those involved in anti-social crime and shootings such as last night cannot be allowed to undermine the community in this way.
"Sinn Fein has long called for a strong, co-ordinated response to crime in Ballyfermot. Gardai need to be fully and adequately resourced to tackle crime in our communities. But they cannot do it on their own. They need to work in partnership with the communities they serve.
"I would encourage anyone with information to come forward."
