Commenting this evening on Micheál Martin’s address to the Fianna Fáil Ard Fheis, Sinn Féin Leader Gerry Adams TD said:
“People will judge Fianna Fáil on their actions in government where they introduced one budget after another which impacted negatively on working families and the most vulnerable in society.
“Fianna Fáil in government removed dedicated Special Needs Assistants and reduced resource hours for those with learning disabilities.
“Fianna Fáil in government used taxpayers money to support private bad bank debt.
“As much as Micheál Martin may attempt to rebrand his party, New Fianna Fáil is a myth.
“Mr Martin was a senior minister in government from1997 - 2011. He set up the failed HSE and voted for tax breaks for developers to build private hospitals and he voted for hospital co-location.
“If Micheál Martin had any vision for a better Ireland we would know about it by now. The reality is that there is nothing politically that separates Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael.”
