‘Lean ort ag éisteacht le lucht na Gaeilge a Aire’ – Liadh Ní Riada

5 April, 2014 - by Liadh Ní Riada MEP

Chuir Oifigeach Gaeilge agus iarrthóir Shinn Féin sna toghcháin Eorpacha, Liadh Ní Riada fáilte roimh chinneadh an Aire Stáit Donnchadh Mac Fhionnlaoich dul siar ar a phlean Oifigí an Choimisinéara Teanga agus an Ombudsmain a chur le chéile.

“Lean ort ag éisteacht le lucht na Gaeilge, an teachtaireacht” a bhí ag Ní Riada don Aire Stáit’

“Ach tá amhras suntasach ar phobal na Gaeilge mar gheall ar na hathruithe luaite i gCinn an Bhille foilsithe ag an Aire Stáit, ar an Aoine”

“I measc na bhforálacha ag cur imní ar dhaoine tá, cumhachtaí breise don Aire a bhaineann le oibleagáidí Gaeilge eagraíochtaí stáit a chur ar ceal, síneadh ama do scéimeanna teanga na n-eagraíochtaí céanna, agus laghdú sa méid aistriúcháin a bheadh déanta acu ar cháipéisí, gan trácht ar cheisteanna fostaíochta sa státseirbhís”, a dúirt Ní Riada.

‘Keep on listening to the Irish language community, Minister’ – Liadh Ní Riada

Irish Language Officer and Sinn Féin European election candidate Liadh Ní Riada welcomed the Minister of State Dinny McGinley’s decision to scrap his plan to merge the Offices of the Language Commissioner and the Ombudsman.

“Keep on listening to the Irish language community, was Ní Riada’s message to the Minister of State’

“But the Irish language community out there has significant doubts about the proposals contained in the Heads of Bill published by the Minister of State on Friday.

‘Among the provisions worrying people are, extra powers for the Minister enabling him to rescind Irish language obligations on state bodies, time extensions for the same bodies, and a reduction in their translation of  some documents, and that’s without going into employment issues in the Civil Service”, said Ní Riada
