Cautious welcome for Government commitment to introduce Housing Bill in May this year

9 April, 2014 - by Sandra McLellan TD

Sinn Féin spokesperson on Arts, Heritage, Tourism and Sport, Sandra McLellan TD, has today given a cautious welcome to the government’s commitment to introduce the Housing Bill 2014 in May this year.

Speaking in the Dáil today McLellan said:

“Local authority tenants have been waiting years for the resumption of the right to buy scheme.

“The Housing Miscellaneous Bill must make provision for a building programme to compensate for units sold under an agreed right to buy scheme and provide a solution for the growing number of shared ownership home owners who have slipped into mortgage arrears.”
