Speaking at the launch of her EU election campaign Sinn Féin Dublin candidate Lynn Boylan pledged to fight for a better deal for Ireland in Europe working to secure EU investment in job creation and putting forward real alternatives to austerity.
Lynn Boylan said:
“Years of austerity have left a devastating impact on communities across Dublin with unemployment at crisis levels, increased taxes and reduced services with every government budget.
“If elected Sinn Féin EU candidates will work for an end to austerity and for fairer policies focusing on an ambitious programme of investment prioritising job creation, frontline services and critical infrastructure including social housing.
“Voters across the island have a real choice on May 23rd between sitting MEPs who have supported European institutions austerity policies at every turn or Sinn Féin candidates who have consistently set out a real political, economic and social alternative.
“If elected I will work to secure EU investment for job creation, a deal on legacy banking debt, a real alternative to austerity, the protection of workers’ pay and conditions, action on climate change, Irish neutrality and to promote Irish unity and EU support for a border poll.
“Sinn Féin will stand up for Ireland in Europe. Labour, Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil MEPs have copper-fastened austerity, have not fought for increased investment in economic stimulus, and have protected bondholders at every turn.
“Support across Europe is growing for parties like Sinn Féin offering a positive message of a real alternative to austerity that puts jobs, investment and citizens first in all political decision making.
“Sinn Féin will stand up and fight for a better deal for Ireland.”
