Sinn Féin MEP launches party's social media campaign

28 April, 2014 - by Martina Anderson MEP

Sinn Féin MEP Martina Anderson will launch the Sinn Féin Social media campaign today at 12 noon in The Space, Room 1 in QUB Student's Union.

Ms. Anderson said,

“Today’s social media launch of our European and council election campaign is a first for the party.

“The very fact we are holding a social media launch of our campaign at all is a sign of the huge changes, which have overtaken the world of media and communications over the early years of the 21st Century.

“Billions of people are now daily users of a variety of social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Flickr and their counterparts all over the planet

“For some these exciting new-age platforms have replaced traditional print and broadcast media as their number one source for information and for debate.

“Republicans are no strangers to innovation and we lead the way using the new tools available to us to promote the ideals and the vision for a new agreed Ireland based on equality for all.

“Just as the developers and creators of new social media are rewriting history, Team Sinn Féin is creating a bit of history of our own in these elections.

“We are standing in all four EU seats in Ireland and 350 candidates in all 42 councils right across the country.

“So it’s with great pleasure that I launch our #TeamSFIreland hashtag which will trend throughout the duration of this game-changing election campaign.”END/CRÍOCH
