McGuinness condemns attack on Alliance offices

30 April, 2014 - by Martin McGuinness

Joint First Minister Martin McGuinness has condemned last night’s firebomb attack on the Alliance Party headquarters in East Belfast.

“I condemn unreservedly the petrol bomb attack on the Alliance Party’s offices in East Belfast last night,” said Sinn Féin’s MLA.

“The people responsible for this attack have nothing to offer this community.

“This is an attack on democratic expression and is therefore an attack on all of us involved in political life.

“We should bear in mind too that the attacks on Alliance have been carried out in a context in which people were encouraged on to the streets on the issue of flags.

“The leaders of the unionist community need to stand shoulder to shoulder with us to unequivocally condemn this latest attack and make it clear these attacks must stop.” CRÍOCH/ENDS
