PSNI must protect foreign nationals from attack

30 April, 2014 - by Alex Maskey

Sinn Féin MLA Alex Maskey has discussed the recent attacks on the Polish community  and other foreign nationals during a meeting with the PSNI.

 Mr. Maskey said,

“I am concerned over the recent increase in attacks on the Polish community in East and South Belfast and raised the issue today with the local PSNI commander.

“Some of these hate crimes are being orchestrated by the UVF while others are being carried out by racist people intent on causing fear with the purpose of removing this community from predominately Unionist residential areas.

“I told the PSNI commander that more needed to be done to protect these communities and bring the perpetrators swiftly to justice..

“It is also imperative that the local Unionist politicians and community leaders stand up and support these families.”
