Twin evils of Racism and Sectarianism need to be eradicated

2 May, 2014 - by Jennifer McCann

Sinn Féin MLA and Junior Minister Jennifer McCann said more needed to be done to remove the scourges of Racism and Sectarianism from Society here.

Speaking at "The Belonging Exhibition" which tells individual stories of migrants who have came to Ireland in Shankill Library she said,

"Unfortunately there are still people who would physically assault and intimidate someone simply because they are of a different race or religious background.

"These attacks not only have a personal emotional effect on their victims, they have a negative impact on society as a whole.

"There is a clear need for Political and Civic leaders to condemn racial and sectarian attacks no matter who or where they come from, and there is no room for complanency."
