“Residents Voices Will Be Heard” - Ní Chuilín

7 May, 2014 - by Carál Ní Chuilín

“When I offered to co-host this housing equality campaign event in the Assembly it was with the full intention of bringing residents' voices to the heart of government.

"Residents, in conjunction with PPR  Participation and the Practice of Rights)  told in the starkest terms  the harrowing situation of those in housing crisis and the substandard treatment that they have received from Nelson McCausland’s department.

“Sinn Féin fully back the pledge that residents have asked MLAs and others to sign up to and we must unite to build civic and political pressure to address housing inequality across the North but specifically in areas of high demand.

“No gerrymandering of housing figures by the DUP will stop this campaign for equality and the support shown at this event by a cross section of NGOs, civic society and increasing numbers of Assembly parties demonstrates that this isn’t just a republican agenda but everyone’s business.”
